25 years of experience in the Energy sector

Having more than 25 years of experience in the Energy sector, Mr van Poecke is primarily an Entrepreneur, Investor and Executive Manager.

Prior to forming AtlasInvest, he founded Petroplus from a management buyout in 1993 and successfully led its growth into the largest independent oil refiner in Europe through several major acquisitions and divestments. Petroplus was taken private in 2005 in a transaction led by Carlyle/Riverstone and management. In 2006, Marcel exited Petroplus following the company’s successful IPO on the Zurich stock exchange. The transaction was the highest multiple return investment for the Carlyle/Riverstone Energy Fund.

Mr. van Poecke has a degree in Agricultural Business Administration from the University of Wageningen and a Masters in Business Administration from the William E. Simon School of Management of the University of Rochester.

Bob Maguire

21 years as investment banker

Recently Mr. Maguire was a Partner at Perella Weinberg Partners, but prior to that worked as an investment banker for over 21 years at Morgan Stanley and was involved in many of the largest transactions within the sector.

He holds an AB from Princeton University (1977), an MA from Oxford University (1980) and a JD from the University of Virginia School of Law (1983).

Paddy Spink

  • Senior Advisor to Carlyle International Energy Partners

23 years with Perenco in various roles

Paddy Spink is a geologist with nearly 40+ years of experience in upstream oil and gas companies. Prior to Carlyle, he spent 23 years with Perenco in various roles including business development, exploration and operations during a period where the company grew from less than 5,000 bopd to over 200,000 bopd and became one of the largest private upstream companies. Activities extended through Europe, Africa, Middle East, Far East, Australia and North and South America, and included activities from exploration, through development, to optimisation of mature fields. Prior to Perenco, he was involved in building a portfolio of exploration and production assets in the UK for a large construction company, and earlier in various geological and petroleum engineering oilfield services roles with a predecessor of Baker-Hughes.

He is a former Non-Executive Director of Ophir Energy plc and a former Executive Committee member of Perenco.

Paddy Spink has a Bachelors degree in Environmental Science from the University of Lancaster.

Eric Faillenet

20 years experience in the oil and gas industry

Eric Faillenet has over 20 years experience in the oil and gas industry. Prior to joining Carlyle International Energy Partners in April 2014, Mr Faillenet was Africa Regional Manager with Perenco, an independent oil and gas company with gross production of over 400,000 boepd and operations in 15 countries in Africa, Latin America, the Middle East, the UK and Vietnam.

Mr Faillenet joined Perenco in 1994 and held a number of positions in production and operations in various subsidiaries, as well as in business development in London, before becoming Operations Manager, and subsequently General Manager of the Guatemala subsidiary. Mr Faillenet then became General Manager of the Congo subsidiary, General Manager of Perenco Gabon, General Manager of the Perenco UK and finally Africa Regional Manager with responsibility for over 175,000 boepd of operated production.

Mr Faillenet is a graduate of Ecole Centrale de Lyon in France and has an MSc in Electronic Control Engineering from Salford University, England.

Mark Beacom

30 years experience in senior operational leadership and managerial positions

During the past 30 years, Mark has held increasingly senior operational leadership and managerial positions internationally in companies both public and private including Director General of Midia Resources SRL, the Romanian subsidiary of Sterling Resources Ltd., President of Carthage Energy and its subsidiary Carthage Hydro, Vice-President of Petrokazakhstan, COO of Western Facilities, and President and Founder of Croft Offshore Oil Ltd.

Mark holds a Bachelor of Science degree (Honours) in Mechanical Engineering from Queens University in Kingston, Ontario and a Master of Business Administration degree from the London Business School in the UK.

Ana Maria Mihaescu

Ana Maria was a founding member of Eximbank Romania, working as General Director of the Insurance and Reinsurance Department (1991-1992), Vice President for External refinancing facilities and export credits insurance division (1994-1996) and President of the Bank (1996-1997). Between 1993 and 1994 Ana Maria was Project Officer for the financial sector for the World Bank Resident Mission in Romania.

In 1997 she joined the World Bank Group where she had been working for the last 25 years. Between 1997 and 2011 she was Program Manager, Chief of Mission for Romania and Moldova and Chief Resident Representative within the same institution. In 2011 Ana Maria became the International Finance Corporation Regional Manager for Romania, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Moldova, Poland and Slovakia until 2016.

She holds a degree from the Academy of Economic Studies, Faculty of International Economic Relations obtained in 1980 and a certificate of International Director Program obtained in 2017 from INSEAD.

Irina Bolomey

Irina has more than 20 years experience in advisory services for firms acting in natural resources industries, especially for oil & gas, minerals/mining and renewable energy.

Irina was among the founders of one of the first audit, accounting and tax firm in Romania, being the Managing Partner of this firm during the last years, until 2019.

From 1998 to 2005 Irina was the Managing Parner of RSM Salustro Reydel Romania, a firm part of an important French Audit Group. During this period she was responsible for the audit of firms providing public services in Romania.

Irina Bolomey holds a Master’s degree in Economics from the Academy of Economic Studies in Bucharest/Faculty of International Relations and a Master ‘s degree in Law from the University of Bucharest/Faculty of Law.

Irina Bolomey is a Vicepresident of the Romanian Independent Directors Association.
